Things to Do in the City of Dublin, Ohio

The City of Dublin is blessed with an abundance of fun attractions for residents and visitors to enjoy. Here’s a shortlist of our favorites:

1. Columbus Zoo and Aquarium I 4850 W Powell Road, Powell, Ohio 43065, United States (614) 6453400

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is famous because of their Director emeritus “Jungle Jack” Hanna who appeared on David Letterman Show, Good Morning America.

The Zoombezi Bay Waterpark and the Safari Golf Club are located on hundreds of acres of naturalistic wildlife habitats inside the Zoo. The Zoo is one of only three facilities outside of Florida that exhibits and rehabilitates the endangered West Indian manatee, and it has nine world zones with over 800 species.

The Polar Frontier exhibit is one of the Zoo’s most entertaining areas. Meet the polar bears from the Zoo and watch them dive to a depth of 16 feet or swim beneath your head through a half-tube acrylic viewing glass. Visit the Shores Play Park and 4D Theater to get a taste of a short film’s sights, sounds, and feelings.

2. The Getaway Brewing Co. I 108 N High Street, Dublin, Ohio 43017, United States, (614) 3890137

The Getaway Brewing Co. truly lives up to its name, arriving at precisely the right time. The new Dublin brewery, owned by the same people behind Seventh Son Brewing and Antiques on High, feels like a swanky mid-century airport lounge, your last stop for cocktails before heading to the tropics.

The brewery and bar are part of a new building on Dublin’s High Street that blends in perfectly with the Scioto River’s western section of Bridge Park. The 4,000-square-foot facility is bathed in natural light, thanks to a glass-enclosed sunroom filled with comfortable chairs and a community table. Rich greens and natural woods are used throughout the rest of the space. A 1,000-square-foot brick patio along High Street is illuminated by lights and sheltered by big umbrellas. The bar is surrounded by greenery, and a small brewery lies behind glass in the far corner.

Jeni Britton Bauer, a James Beard Award-winning cookbook author, established Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams in 2002. Britton Bauer’s foresight—using whole ingredients and grass-pastured dairy instead of synthetic flavorings and commodity ice cream mix—combined with inventive flavors began the artisan ice cream movement more than a decade before it became a top culinary trend. Jeni’s ice cream can be found in historic Dublin downtown. Seasonal flavors ensure that there is something new to try every season. Goat Cheese Cherry, Brown Butter Almond Brittle, and Savannah Buttermint are among the best-sellers.

Jeni’s is now a registered B Corporation with 33 scoop shops across the country, an online shop at jenis.com, and distribution in leading grocery stores.

Dublin Baptist began as a dream and a desire to plant a church in Dublin in 1978. Dublin was barely more than a few roads, a few houses, and a lot of farmland back then. However, a group of dedicated residents from Lane Avenue in Upper Arlington took a leap of faith and began meeting at what was then Dublin High School, eventually purchasing a 6-acre plot of land on Coffman Road in March 1979.

Over the years Dublin Baptist Church has experienced significant expansion. The church’s mission, however, has not changed. The neighborhood is a faith-based family that looks out for everyone. They invest in people by creating a family-like environment. The church is there to help and encourage people through their trials and triumphs.

People of many ages, backgrounds, and nationalities can be found at Dublin Baptist. Members gather as a family and endeavor to live their lives in accordance with the Bible and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Parks, Schools & Other Points of Interest in the City of Dublin, Ohio

The city of Dublin is also home to some amazing parks, public libraries, and schools for its citizens to enjoy.  These facilities are all world-class, beautifully maintained, and clean so residents of surrounding communities often visit to enjoy them.  Here’s a short list all located in the City of Dublin:

1. Glacier Ridge Metro Park I 9801 Hyland-Croy Road, Plain City, Ohio 43064, United States (614) 2168859

Glacier Ridge Metro Park is home to over 1,000 acres of open space and wetland where visitors can explore along with a 25-foot observation tower that provides scenic views for wildlife viewing.

The name Glacier Ridge comes from the final moraine or glacial debris left over when the glaciers receded some 12,000 to 17,000 years ago. Much of the park was formerly farmed. Visitors can walk across a boardwalk through the Honda Wetlands Area or climb a 25-foot observation tower to see waterfowl and other animals.

The paved 3-mile Marshhawk Trail, or the paved 2.5-mile Ironweed Trail (which is not a loop so out and back is 5 miles), are both popular options for hiking, jogging, or cycling. Bring your disc and play the 18-hole disc golf course. A playground and picnic tables, as well as grills and a first-come, first-served picnic shelter are available for use. The park is free to enter in appreciation of Franklin County tax levy voters’ support.

5. Indian Run Falls I 700 Shawan Falls Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017, United States (614) 4104700

Indian Run Falls, located in a small urban park north of Columbus, is quite magnificent for being in Central Ohio. However, the park has much more to offer than the waterfall. A 10-foot cascade upstream from the waterfall has been dubbed Upper Indian Run Falls, and the creek flows through a picturesque valley for the bulk of the park. Hayden Run Falls, a bit more magnificent than this cascade, is only a short drive away.
